iPod Dead battery and bose soundock

If my ipod battery dies will it still play with my Bose soundock?

It should.

On a separate, somewhat related topic: I think my Sounddock has killed my iPod battery. I think keeping it plugged in all the time has lessened the capacity of my iPod battery. Has this happened to anyone else?
