Hi,

So something fell on top of my closed M1 air this weekend, and the display no longer works. No visible damage inside or out, but no image and no backlight at all. It's like it doesn't have power.

Everything else is fine, I'm posting this using an external display. The mac thinks the internal is still there, as it shows in system information. Obviously I know this almost certainly means an expensive trip to the repair store, but I did wonder if there wasn't one weird trick to get it back to life, or if anyone had had this before.

Thanks!

At the risk of stating the bleeding obvious, have you shone a torch into the display to see whether the image is there but no backlight?

No trick to fix physical damage. The FaceTime camera is a separate part and runs on a separate flex cable from the LCD.
