HI, sorry for the n00b question.. I have an old 24" iMac that will not start up...totally dead. I want to sell it for parts, but I don't know how to get the personal information off it since it won't turn on. What is my best option? Thanks!!

Tear Down the 24" Wall

I'd head over to http://www.ifixit.com and find a teardown guide for your model, and pull the hd.

Then you can format it using another computer if you don't need anything off of it.

Have you had it look at by Apple or anyone else? My early 2009 iMac did the same thing, it ended up being the power supply. Once it was replaced it started right up.
