Well, one my old MacBooks (2011 15") just decided to die a slow death. Some of the keys will not work. Can't even log into it because the O and T keys won't do anything.

It's getting donated for parts, but I'd like to do a few things 1st. Can I connect a USB keyboard to it and will that work without being logged in and setup???

Thanks!

R.

You can replace the keyboard for $25 or less.

I have done it myself. It takes about an hour (including bathroom break).

Not looking to get involved with repairing a 5 year old machine.

Will a USB keyboard allow to log in?

Yes, any USB keyboard will work, even those with Windows key layouts. That is assuming there is no software problem that has disabled some keys, and the same keys won't work regardless of the keyboard in use. You would have to test it, eh?
