Hi!

My mid-2009 Mac Mini is refusing to output optical audio. At first the audio started cutting out, presumably due to overheating as increasing the fan speed gave me the audio back for a while. Now I can't find any tricks to make it work again, so I've accepted that I need to find another solution.

I'm trying to find a Firewire or USB audio interface which will let me passthrough 5.1 DTS/AC3 from DVD Player/Plex/VLC to my Onkyo receiver, but my search keeps giving me interfaces that will only pass through 5.1 in Windows (The turtle beach ones), or discontinued ones like the M-Audio Transit.

Anyone here with experience in this? Advice would be much appreciated!
