My ipad 4 is few days off warranty when black lines appeared at the bottom. It was about 1 pixel thick when i first noticed, then became two pixels. In 2 days they became two 2-pixel thick lines. I contacted local support (asia) but they are charging me half the price for a replacement unit, is this fair?

I am very careful with my devices and it is really frustrating for me that my ipad is showing what appears to be a hardware defect in only a little over a year of personal use.

Is there anything else i can do? I am thinking of sending my unit to America and see if they can help me.
