Late 12 rMBP won't turn on. Brought it to a repair shop and the guy said it would cost 400 to fix.

Any cheaper options?

Even worth it to put 400 into a 5 year old computer?

Possible to get the hard drive saved to an external one without the power on?

Thanks

Hard to guess how much the machine is worth without more info.

You can take the hard drive out and put it in another enclosure to recover the data.

Well, it's a lot to fix fix that machine, but it's cheaper than a new one. Depends on how much you like it or want to upgrade.

I'd sell it on an online auction (there are people that would pay for parts) and buy a new one. Will of course cost more then 400 in total, but you'd have a new computer.
