What a nightmare today. I was using my i5, just taking some pics and trying out panorama, when a message popped saying "No SIM installed" I reset the phone, took the sim card out but nothing worked. I brought the phone to ATT and of course the rep had never seen that happen before. He swapped the sim all the while saying he didn't think it would work (which was totally reassuring) and after 3 minutes of waiting it finally kicked on with service.

I'm a little concerned. This never happened with any of my iPhones before and I've owned every single version except the 4S. I seriously hope this dead sim thing doesn't happen again. On the plus side I have noticed my service is a bit better with the new sim installed but I highly doubt that has anything to do with it though...

A few threads about it on here and on the Apple forums. Take it to AT&T and they will swap the sim out.

Rep at the store told my wife several people had been in with the same issue.
