good deal or no deal???

Sounds like a good deal to me, great if it has applecare. Refurb 13" MBP are going for 1000 from apple with a warranty, refurb macbooks are less, around 850 . So just decide if a warranty is worth the extra money.

On the other hand, when available, refurb mid-2009 MacBooks go for $750 from Apple, complete with 12 month warranty. That option might be worth considering if you can wait until one appears.

thanks for the replies guys, it's out of warranty but it is in "like new" condition. How often are the discounted macbook's on apple's website?

They're not frequent, and they go pretty fast when they do appear, but in my opinion one of these MacBooks at that price is a good deal. Keep an eye on Apple's refurb store for a couple of weeks or so, and you should see one.
