Today we're tracking a new Amazon low price on the 2021 32GB Apple TV 4K, available for $149.99, down from $179.00. This $29 discount is now the lowest price we've ever seen on this model of the Apple TV 4K.

The Apple TV 4K is available for the usual free Prime shipping options, and it's in stock and ready to ship today. There are shipping options that will get the device to you by Christmas, but estimates are getting tight as the holiday is now only two weeks away, so order soon if you're interested.

You can also get the 64GB Apple TV 4K for $189.98, down from $199.00. We've seen this Apple TV 4K discounted by an additional $10, so this sale is a second-best price. Both of these Apple TVs are sold by Amazon, and they're in stock and ready to ship today.

Although the sales on these Apple TV models aren't particularly steep, they are the best offers around and worth checking out if you're still on the market for the newest Apple TV 4K. You can keep an eye out on Apple TV deals in our Best Apple TV 4K Deals guide.

Picked up one of the Chromecast 4K devices yesterday from Best Buy for $39.99.

If Apple wants their 4K hardware to take off they need to RE-design it for no more than $99 !

IMO, Apple could easily carve-out the high-end of the streaming media devices, but NOT with a Plain Vanilla product that is much more expensive then the competition !

E.g., let's say I want the Audio to go to directly to my Rx.

Already out of stock. I wanted to upgrade to this one for Wifi 6 as well as it's Thread Homekit support.

My projector is 1080p, but I'm tempted to upgrade to the 4K ATV specifically to get Spatial Audio on my AirPods Max.

Clearly damned if you do and damned if you don't. We all want to know when these deals come up but we also don't want anyone else to know because these sell out.

$149 is not bad but $129 is ideal....Compared to the last gen. one, this is faster and smoother with an excellent remote. I'd grab the Costco deal if you're in the market, worth the extra money over the HD

I would mostly agree, but it only makes sense if you have a 4K TV or plan to get one in the near future. On the flip side, even if your streams are 1080 HD, a lot of 4K TVs have upscaling technology that still makes 1080 streams look better. But if you are happy with 1080 TVs, then it's a waste of money to get 4K version.

Is there a way to tell how much storage is being used in an Apple TV? I have the first gen 4K with 64GBs but wouldn't mind the 2021 model since it fixes the crushed black issue in DV. But I have no idea if I really need the 64GB or not. I don't load games on my ATV so the only real thing taking up storage would be apps and screen savers.

Thank for any tips.

Short answer, no.
Long answer, not really, but sort of.

For something specifically sold in multiple storage sizes, that really stinks.

Related topic, but just avoiding doulbe-posting - the AppleTV continues to disappoint me. My used, cheap, 4K just sits under my Time Capsule as a coaster, with the primary duty of HomeKit hub. If it pulled double-duty as a router, speaker, local-iOS-backup-box, or anything else remotely interesting, I'd like it more... but it's not. It's just a very overpriced streaming box.

  • I loved the first concept; a hard drive for the TV running basically OS X's Front Row. A fantastic solution to the Mac Mini for the living room. I REALLY liked that thing.
  • The 2nd AppleTV was underpowered junk, abandoned on a terrible OS, and the 3rd isn't much better.
  • The HD and 4K FINALLY improve on the hardware, but still have absolutely junk software. It's crippled iOS, which is a consolidated macOS.
I'll be honest; I don't know what I want out of the AppleTV, but not whatever it is. I can immediately come up with a handful of devices that do the same thing or better for a fraction of the price, and ALL of them have a better remote.

I own no 4K TVs and I just upgraded 3 of my ATVs to this latest version from the HD version. The interface navigation is much smoother and some apps are working much better (DirecTV Stream being the biggest upgrade). I blame that more on the app, but I had to stop waiting on DTVStream to get their sh-t together.

I bought one when Apple were giving out the gift cards a couple of weeks ago, set it all up, brilliant...then suddenly found out BBC iPlayer doesn't support subtitles on the thing and from reading about this is unlikely to be resolved as it has been a problem for years now!

Those residing in the USA and seeking discounted Apple TVs may wanna check out Apple’s certified refurbished store: The 2nd gen (2021) 4k 32 GB version sells for $149 and 64 GB version for $169. It has the same warranty as new products and from my experience looks and functions like new. The sealed box does say it’s certified refurbished. The availability fluctuates these days, if it’s sold out, just check again later. https://www.apple.com/shop/refurbished/appletv

Apple refurb products are great as well.

With Apple refurb it's essentially the same as new, just passed through QC twice instead of once.

I've checked a few times over the last month or two and never seen the newest 4k model in the refurb store.

No.

There are storage apps for tvOS, but the displayed used/free space isn’t remotely accurate due to how the OS stores cached and temporary data.

But, games is what takes up a lot of static storage space, so if you don’t game, your ATV is probably mostly free space.

A side note, I have a lot of games installed on my 64GB ATVs, and get “out of storage” messages all the time.
