Unsolved mysteries of advertising: *why* does Apple use that face nearly everywhere in their images for the watch ? It's so busy and distracting that it seriously obscures the clean lines of the watch. It's not particularly attractive in itself either.

It’s one of the few faces that shows off the “edge-to-edge” feature of the series 7, which is really the only physical difference between it and the series 6.

Thank you for this article! I just ordered one to replace my Series 4. I wasn’t planning on buying one, but the deal is literally 36% off. Couldn’t resist.

That's disappointing to hear. You'd think previous watch faces would be responsive and scale up.

Damn. What a deal! Ordered! Target had the Series 7 aluminum on sale for $449, but for the same price on Amazon we can get the Series 7 Stainless Steel. Hell yes!

That's a REALLY good deal! Normally I get the 1 or 2 year old SS watches for $499, so this being the current gen for that price is really good.

Anyone go from a 44mm to a 41mm? Comments on screen size downsizing? My wrist is about 7.5inches.

that's a good price, even though personally I don't care that much about stainless steel, but I like the sapphire glass.

Silver SS is the best color it matches with most bands, it's easy to scratch but so far I have none but I'm pretty careful with it.

I bought my first Apple Watch a few weeks back - a Series 4 44mm LTE in silver Stainless for $200.

While a Series 5 or 6 would have been nice for the always-on display, I honestly don't see the point in upgrading to the 7 or buying it new. If I could get into the stainless 45mm LTE 7 for $400 I could see that, but otherwise I'd stick to earlier models for a lot less and wait for the next gen industrial design.

Chances are the 7 will be the last of the current rounded design. Bad time to buy a brand new Apple Watch - just like August 2021 was a bad time to buy a brand new MacBook or now is a bad time to buy a new MacBook Air.

You can polish the stainless steel watch body.

I'll only buy Apple products in as close to a 'natural' finish as possible. I have the stainless steel/white XS Max and a Silver 14" MBP for this reason. No finish to wear off. It's why I waited to find a decent deal on a Series 4 44mm Watch in stainless too.

The anodized aluminum finishes just don't hold up and once they scratch, that's it.

We’re in the middle of the 7’s product cycle so it’s a tricky time whether or not to buy.
And while the 8 might bring a completely new design, it might not necessarily look better than the current rounded one.

I think the bigger reason to hold off, would be if the 8 brings substantially better battery life.

Why though? The 6 I have only uses 25-33 percent for 14 hours. I don’t use AOD, but when I did it was about 40-50 percent per 14 hours.

That’s more than enough to be able to reach a charger daily.

Well, okay, I know there’s reasons why better battery life is always desired…. So can’t argue, I guess.

What I’m more excited about is a watch that monitors blood sugar. Would LOVE to be able to know if I have issues daily. Realistically, wondering what new features the 8 has.

Now is not a bad time to buy if one wants or needs a watch. Trying to play the keep up with the latest tech game is an exercise in futility as there is alway something new being released. Life is too short to sit on the sideline waiting to buy the next latest tech. There is no real benefit from waiting as we have no promise of tomorrow much less what the new tech will entail.
