Amazon today has introduced another discount on Apple's 512GB 27-inch 5K iMac with 6-core CPU. We've been tracking a discount down to $1,699.99 over the past few weeks, and now you can get this 2020 model for $1,599.99, down from $1,999.00, after an automatic coupon worth $299.01 is applied at checkout.

This is now the best price we've ever tracked for this model of the 27-inch iMac across all retailers. The iMac is ready to ship today with Amazon's typical free shipping for all Prime members.

Additionally, the 256GB 27-inch 5K iMac is on sale for $1,499.99, down from $1,699.00. This model hasn't seen a discount in a few weeks, and now Amazon has introduced a sale alongside the 512GB model. You'll see the markdown at checkout after a $199.01 discount is automatically applied.

There, we keep track of the best iMac offers from Amazon, Adorama, B&H Photo, and other retailers, so be sure to check back often if you're shopping for an iMac for the first time, or thinking of upgrading.

I want to see what the new Apple Silicon iMac (Pro?) brings to the table, but the chances of my WFH status becoming permanent means I probably will need to replace my 2017 iMac 5K with another Intel Mac and the $1600 model would work for me and is such a bargain now.

I wish they offered the same $300 off promotion on the i7 as that would be a no-brainer for me.

Would the 3.3ghz with 64ram be a better option than a 16gb M1 Mac? I’m still trying to debate which one I want to make my primary Mac machine.

Main reason to buy Intel now is because you either run macOS software that is compiled to run on x86 (so it would need to run under Rosetta 2 on M1) or you need to run the Intel version of Windows (via BootCamp or VM).

Thanks. I might just pull the plug on the 27. That is such a good deal.

I use parallels on M1 and its fantastic so far. Almost all my windows needed apps for work are functioning. No reason to go back in time Embrace M1

Considering Apple clearly isn't moving forward with Intel I don't personally see the point in buying the 27" iMac. Seems like a waste of an investment. It'd be like buying an LG phone right now when they officially announced they're exiting the market.

Well not $299, but Prime Day discount is $199 which is a first for the i7 model.
