Email and browsing, one can do that with a pentium 3 and 512mb of ram

I think this is why lots of OSs have so much bloat in them, without that hard to sell the new chips and hardware

Is there a dependable magsafe usb-c adapter for this thing?

All i can find are dozens of fake sounding companies with almost the same product.

The build quality of the 13 inch is more robust then the newer models. My 14 Inch is great, but it doesn’t feel the same as the previous generation.

I just got my M2 air 8GB/512GB from Best Buy yesterday $1,249.99 What an awesome little laptop this thing is! Sucks I had to pay more to not get the gimped 256gb version, but it is what it is. Also one last thing. For me to get 16GB ram, it would have been an extra $350 dollars. I would have had to get it through Apple directly. Out of their damn tree wanting that price. Not happening, at least for me and my basic needs.

I think you’re vastly underestimating the internet. You couldn’t watch YouTube or do much of anything web related.

Might not be netflix in 4k, but you could google and type responses one sites like this just as fast
Read what they said…memory of 512 MB (not GB). Literally the minimum requirement to MacOS Leopard from 2007 is minimum 512MB but 1GB recommended. You wouldn’t be able to download a modern browser and whatever built in Safari version would be broken if functional at all on modern websites.

I’m sure someone would find a way but my point was to the absurdity of the statement. Can you drive a car blind, technically yes but why the hell would you.

Run a light Linux distro and you’d be fine

The all-time low for the Air is not $799. Microcenter had it for $779 previously and I saw it somewhere for $749 before as well. And the $799 have been the regular price from retailers for months now. This is not a deal at all.

Crazy that an M1 chip is being described as basic tasks like email and browsing when it is an extremely powerful chip that literally outperformed the highest end MacBook Pro from three years prior
Yes. The M1 MBA is not only one of, if not the, best bang-for-the-buck devices Apple makes it’s also possibly the best bang-for-the-buck computer on the market.

Just picked up my MacBook Air M2 8/256 in midnight yesterday from Apple Edu for $999 with that $150 gift card. Perfect for my wife and her mild computing.

I dare to say at this moment, it's the M2 Mac mini for $599 ($499 edu) with the $100 gift card. It can run an up to 6K and a up to 5K dual monitor setup. Amazing.

Reminds me of how the base-like eMac desktop also cost $799. Just like the M1 Air, it was pretty good for many different purposes, even light-to-moderate digital media work!
