Apple's new 15-inch MacBook Air is now available to purchase, and Amazon still has the first deal on these notebooks. You can get the 256GB model for $1,249.99 in two colors on Amazon, down from $1,299.00.

This $49 discount is still the steepest markdown that we've seen so far on the brand new notebook. Amazon has the Silver and Midnight colors at this price, with delivery estimates between June 15 and June 19.

There's also a discount on the 512GB model, which is available for $1,449.99, down from $1,499.00 in select colors on Amazon. The Space Gray option has the same delivery dates as the 256GB models, but the Starlight color has a late June arrival date.

The new MacBook Air comes with a 15.3-inch Liquid Retina display, M2 processor, MagSafe charging, two Thunderbolt ports, a headphone jack, and more. For a full rundown on what's new in the MacBook Air, be sure to read our launch post.

Do not buy expensive Apple products from Amazon if you have any doubt you may return them. Their unofficial policy is up to 60 days for a refund. I returned an Apple Watch Ultra five weeks ago and still have not gotten a refund.

Weird Amazon is so fast with discounts. Apple probably prefers to sell through their own channels first.

I still find it odd seeing sales on Apple products. It used to always be fixed pricing.

I guess that’s just part of the transition from “it just works” to “profits > products”
I think you're mixing fixed pricing with minimum advertised pricing.

Even in the early days, before Apple (brick-and-mortar) Stores ever existed, there have always been sales on Apple products. This was especially common at places like Mac Mall, Mac Connection, Mac Warehouse, etc which constantly ran not just straight discount sales but bundled sales as well.

A lot of other places would just advertise that they were having a sale and you'd have to either call in or go into their store to find out what the sale price was since Apple didn't allow them to advertise their prices that were lower than Apple's minimum advertised price.

Or use the education discount and get it for $1,199 + $150 gift card at Apple? Not sure why others aren't doing that.

49$ is peanuts, but I wonder how Amazon do it and still make a profit.

Do they buy them in thousands from Apple at a good wholesale price, so both Apple & Amazon can still benefit from these sales?

Always the best way to buy. There was a short time period where they required credentials, but now it's fair game for all.

The regular price of base MacBook Air 15 is already 1249 at Costco. Can’t beat the 90 day return policy, and they may have 99$ off soon on MBA 15.

If they don't ask for credentials, that is on Apple. However, if people take advantage of this and ruin it for people who are actually in school, that is really sad. Hopefully that doesn't happen.
Apple wants to sell as many devices as they can, they look the other way. Apple Music has student verification. Apple could easily implement the same verification, but they are happy to discount on device and take your money.

How is it ruining it? Apple collected over $1K from me today. Plus, they don't know if I was buying the laptop for my kid or not.

What do you mean how is it ruining it? It hasn't been ruined. I said that if they no longer offer an education discount because people want to be unethical, that is sad. Also, if you are implying that since you spent over $1k with Apple that entitles you to lie about being a student or educator, that is messed up. But if you want to be unethical, that's on you. It's no surprise that in today's world, people seem to be taking advantage of this en masse. Also sad.

I don't see what the issue is to be honest. Even if the person bought it using the Edu discount, that doesn't mean they can't give the laptop to a student or even go back to school themselves and use the laptop. It's really a gray area. No one is out here using fraudulent college IDs or email addresses to get these discounts. Now, that's unethical.

There is nothing unethical, Apple has very loose definition of education discount, which includes parents, homeschooling teachers. I have kids and heavily involved with their schooling and education.
Like I said Apple wants to sell as many devices, even at discount. They could easily verify like Apple Music, but they don’t.

If you don't see the what the issue is, which is lying if you aren't part of this group: "Available to current and newly accepted college students and their parents, as well as faculty, staff, and homeschool teachers of all grade levels", then I don't know what to tell you.

Middle school drama.

My response was different from this since I do, infact, qualify for the education discount. Nevertheless, let others do as they please. If Apple truly cared, they would close the loophole and verify using Unidays again.
