The Apple Pencil 2 is once again available for its all-time low price today on Amazon, priced at $89.00, down from $129.00. The accessory is in stock and available to deliver as soon as December 17 for Prime delivery, or December 20 - 21 for free delivery.

The Apple Pencil 2 is compatible with the following iPads: iPad mini (6th generation), iPad Air (4th generation and later), 12.9-inch iPad Pro (3rd generation and later), and 11-inch iPad Pro (1st generation and later). The second generation Apple Pencil can also magnetically attach and pair to the iPad Pro, iPad mini, and iPad Air.

If you have the newest iPad Pro models, the second-generation Apple Pencil can now be detected while hovering up to 12mm above the display. This allows users to see a preview of their drawing before they make it, and with Scribble text fields automatically expand when the pencil gets near the screen.

I have an ipad pro m1 and I don't draw with it. I can't imagine what I would do with the pencil, what do you all use it for?

Is there any actual difference between this or a third party option? My third party pen isn't magnetic charging so I'd like to replace it but not if the official version is better.

I use it only for writing notes, not for drawing.

Just wondering how much longer to hold out for the Apple Pencil 3. Seems like this is a very good deal to get rid of inventory just before the next version.
I can’t imagine an Apple Pencil 3 comes out before a new iPad Pro which I anticipate is another 12 months out. Would be nice to be surprised for a Spring or Summer iPad Pro redesign but unlikely.

I have a tough time deciding what a v3 Pencil could offer - it’s that good. Curious to hear what others think about potential feature updates to the Pencil line.

For non-artists, the pencil is used for taking notes, which is why the iPad is very popular for note takers like students or business business people.
Granted that there are less expensive tablets that can be used primarily for note taking, the iPad offers a more for entertainment purposes for after business or after school activities. ;)

Wait, Apple Pencil 3rd gen.. has this been announced, highly speculated, or is it something that's rather far away, and assumed it'll be a thing?

Smart Folio Keyboard appears to also be on sale, same discount, I think(??):
