Amazon is discounting the 32GB Apple TV 4K to $129.99 this week, down from $179.00. We saw an all-time low price (around $109) on the Apple TV 4K earlier in July during Prime Day, but since that event ended this is the best deal we've tracked on the 2021 Apple TV 4K.

Shoppers should note that there is a delayed shipping estimate for the 32GB Apple TV 4K right now on Amazon, with an approximate August 10 delivery date given for most places in the United States. Although this is a few weeks away, you can lock in the deal price today to guarantee the sale ahead of the delivery date in August.

I’m going to jump on this. I was hesitant thinking there is another box coming soon, but from what I’ve read that box will be “low cost”, so probably no hdr/dolby vision?

We got the Apple TV 4K 32 GB 2 weeks ago and I'm glad we did. We had been using the 3rd generation Apple TV connected to a 1080p TV since 2014. We mainly stream content using home sharing from a Mac mini, but also stream from Amazon prime video occasionally. Overall, the new Apple TV 4K is better in pretty much all aspects vs the Apple TV (3rd gen). I was originally hung-up on the fact that we don't actually have a 4K (2160p) TV to connect this to, but it works very well as a drop-in replacement in spite of the fact that we are only using it to output at 1080p.

  • More of the metadata on home sharing content displays. Most notably: shows the year for movies. Also, there is the ability to read the whole description on movies where the old Apple TV truncates the descriptions.
  • Remote control has volume buttons which serve to adjust the volume on the TV (this eliminates the need to use the TV remote at all while watching movies)
  • Default screensavers look amazing. We were probably just getting tired of the old screensavers on the old Apple TV, but these new screensavers are actually a bunch of beautiful slow moving videos
  • The new remote wheel area is actually touch sensitive. I have to learn to stop fiddling with the remote while watching a movie as this causes the content to skip around.
  • Gigabit Ethernet on the new vs 100 Mbit Ethernet on the old Apple TV. Our outgoing connection to the ISPs are only 100 Mbit, so there's no difference when streaming from the internet, but videos load noticeably faster over home sharing.
  • New Wifi protocol support 802.11ax "Wifi 6" (doesn't apply since we use Ethernet)
  • Ability to load apps. We are just scratching the surface here initially, but this could turn out to be a very useful feature in the future. We currently have the Epic app (kids books subscription).
  • Supports up to 4K resolution. We do not have any plans on replacing our 1080p TV and we don't have any 4K content in our library, but if we want to pursue upgrading in the future, the Apple TV will be ready.
  • Overall, the UI is more responsive

And, remember you can always price match Amazon with Target. Use a Target Card and get an additional 5% off. Which gets it down to $123.50.

You can disable the touch surface on the remote and have it function by click/hold only. I disabled it for the Apple TV I set up for my grandparents. I like to keep it on because it allows much finer control for scrubbing through content.

If Apple is still doing the $50 store credit promo you can try a price match to Amazon which should knock off an extra 10% off the original price (pre store credit)

Tempting, but my ps5 actually works really well as a streamer for my purposes (just use Netflix and Apple TV app mostly). Also don't really like the Apple remote. Would like native 24 hz output but not a huge deal.

It’s so strange that this is the ONLY device Apple makes with native 24 hz output!

Gotta be. Or at the very least a new lower retail price and a new cheaper model.
I'm not sure a US only deal means anything. Plus, lowering the price of this $50 doesn't really make the case for a lower cost Apple TV. People will just wait for this one to go on sale again.

I picked up a 64GB ATV4K2 during the Prime Day/Black Friday in July sales at Best Buy.

I am not liking the Siri Remote 2 better the the Siri Remote 1. It seems like most people love it, and I thought I would at least like it it, but overall, I think it is worse than the first one.

Also, the Siri Remote 2 doesn't work with a lot of apps that I have tried with it. It is strange. Some games work fine, others it kind of works, and some don't work at all. But, I expected this.

A lot of ppl are saying they prefer the last version of the remote.

I’m at the point (not owning either AppleTV) that I like how the new aluminum remote looks… but get the feeling the last gen remote would be more practical.

It’s not just one time in one region, this thing has been on sale basically all the time for several months now. What I’m suggesting is that Apple will lower the retail price officially in September and maybe even release a $50 streaming device.

There are no rumors of such a thing happening this year. If they are going to officially lower the price of the 4K, then these sales don't make much sense. The fact is, they had a similar sale last year on the Apple Store. I think Apple is just really trying to push the Apple TV+ service and this is one of the ways.
