Amazon today has Apple's 128GB Wi-Fi 12.9-inch M1 iPad Pro for $999.00, down from $1,099.00. This is a new all-time low price on this model, and it's only available at Amazon.

It's also only available in the Space Gray color option. The tablet is in stock and sold by Amazon, so if you have Prime shipping you can get the iPad Pro delivered as fast as this Thursday in the United States.

The newest iPad Pro has Apple's M1 chip, a 12.9-inch Liquid Retina XDR display with ProMotion, a TrueDepth camera system, a 12-megapixel wide-angle camera and a 10-megapixel ultra wide-angle camera.

ive never purchased an  device from a 'third party' (ie Amazon, Best Buy, etc). Will I get the same 1yr warranty directly dealing with Apple if needed, or do I have to go through that 'third party retailer' (ie Amazon, Best Buy, etc) for any issues/repairs?

You get the same direct with Apple warranty you would if you bought from Apple.

You do get the same warranty, but they won’t be as flexible about it. For example, I bought a MacBook Air from my college book store back in the day and it had a couple of dead pixels. I took it to Apple and they told me that it was within tolerances and they couldn’t do anything, but had I bought it directly from them, they would swap it.

Yes but with one caveat. When you go to add AppleCare+ to the iPad, you may not be able to via the web / OS. You might have to call AppleCare which they'll ask you send the receipt from Amazon to them. This is so they can verify purchase / in-service date. They don't know when you bought it usually. I went through this recently with AirPods.

Meanwhile the M1 MBA, which is infinitely more useful and has a KB without another $250 attachment, is $100 cheaper.

Personally, I still feel like the iPad Pro is the better option but it is my secondary device. If I only had one computer, I can see the MBA M1 being more beneficial. I use a desktop PC so the iPad Pro is great for me as a secondary device. Plus, I don't see the need of the magic keyboard on the iPad. Typically if you are doing real work, you will be at a table. You can use a separate apple keyboard and mouse for much cheaper. I found the magic keyboard for the iPad doesn't do that great when on my lap. I am getting ready to sell mine. Its not worth the cost for me. I much prefer just to use the Zugu case. Lots of different angles to use the iPad and the 12.9 has the full virtual keyboard on screen.

The iPad apps are built for the iPad and don't work as well on the MBA in my opinion.

yeah the lone advantage is the XDR, otherwise once the Air gets the mini led update there is no reason to get the ipad for work unless you require the touchscreen (digital art/content creator and such).

Having tried the magic kb for the 12.9 it is honestly really good for what it is but very expensive at the same time.

And has a much worse screen, less connectivity particularly cellular and really crap audio compared to the 12.9". If you go for a keyboard other than than the Apple MG and something like the Logitech Combo which I’m finding really nice it works out to very similar prices.

The only thing you really lose out on is Mac OS.

It's primarily consumer device, even with the Pro moniker. I'd really like one to replace my older iPad Pro 11", but I'll probably wait for the new 11" version.

Hah im a fellow 11” owner (2018). What i want is a mini led ipad mini with 120hz but maybe thats asking too much.

even when i first got the 11” i hemmed and hawed for days between the 12.9 as well but decided it was just too unwieldy unless stationed at a desk.

You can buy Applecare+ directly from Best Buy too. In addition to being an Apple Authorized Reseller, it's also an Apple Authorized Repair Provider. But you can also get service directly from Apple on AC+. There's no part of the agreement that states lesser service or replacements based if you buy it from an authorized reseller.

I really want the 12.9 M1 iPad Pro, especially since it works with the Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil 2 that I already have, but it’s simply not enough of a difference from my 2018. I finally played around with one at the Apple store near me and tho the blacks were much blacker, there’s no discernible difference doing anything else I do with my 2018. I’m not even sure the RAM upgrade is worth the price I would have to pay to upgrade. I’ll wait for the next gen which I expect to adopt the smaller FaceID module coming on the 2021 iPhone so should have smaller bezels.

To be truthful, that would probably do me the best too! I've owned minis in the past but I don't have a current one. It's really the best size.
