Amazon is kicking off the new year with a fresh discount on Apple's M1 iMac. You can get the 8-core GPU/512GB model for $1,499.99, down from $1,699.00.

This is an all-time low price on this version of the 24-inch iMac, and only Amazon has the deal. It's available in Pink, Blue, and Green, although Green's delivery estimates have already dropped into February.

The M1 iMacs launched in 2021 and compared to the previous generation 21.5-inch model, the new models offer up to 85 faster CPU performance, up to 2x faster GPU performance, and up to 3x faster machine learning. They also come with color-matched accessories with custom colors for the keyboard, Magic Mouse or Magic Trackpad, power cord, and Lightning to USB-C cable.

Pretty nice deal on that machine. The upgrade to the one w/ extra I/O and the Touch ID is worth it IMO. I owned one and liked it but couldn't ever get fully comfortable with 24" although Retina is terrific.

It's a good deal while recognizing that Amazon only offers the 24" iMac with 8 GB RAM, but at least this is the largest storage version that they sell (512 GB; Apple offers up to 2 TB).

I am also still holding out for a proper replacement to the 27" iMac and hoping that when Apple does come out with a larger iMac it is not only offered as a much more expensive 'Pro' model!

Apple knows it needs to go bigger and better next time. I really do hope they introduce a 32 inch iMac in the next few years. I want something that big enough to watch Apple TV on while laying in bed and at the same time I sit two feet from and have Excel, Safari, Photos, Finder in a quadrant.

This is a theoretically great value, although I’m not sure it’s enough to sway from waiting for a M2/M3 iMac or iMac Pro.

This hopefully will be the end of the failed pastel color experiment for Macs. Interesting which ones are discounted

How do these price drops work? Is Apple giving them a wholesale discount? I thought the margins are already tiny for resellers? Apple Store itself never has sales themselves for older products. I could use one of these for my restaurant still using a 2014 Mac mini in the office.
