Amazon this week has the M1 MacBook Pro on sale in both 256GB and 512GB configurations, including a return to the notable low price of $1,299.99 for the 512GB option. This sale is $199 off the original price, and you'll see the discount after an automatic coupon worth $49.01 is applied at the checkout screen on Amazon.

This price is a match of the previous all-time low price that we saw last month on the 512GB M1 MacBook Pro. This model of Apple's notebook line includes the same aluminum body with large Force Touch trackpad as previous generations, speakers at the side of the keyboard, and a 13.3-inch display with slim black bezels. Both colors are on sale, but only Silver is available to ship today.

Secondly, Amazon has the 256GB MacBook Pro for $1,149.00, down from $1,299.00. This sale price is available in both Silver and Space Gray. You can find even more discounts on other MacBooks by visiting our Best Deals guide for MacBook Pro and MacBook Air. In this guide we track the steepest discounts for the newest MacBook models every week, so be sure to bookmark it and check back often if you're shopping for a new Apple notebook.

I'd really like to see Apple try to produce a laptop for the budget-conscious folks, like an M0.5 model using less powerful technology in order to drive down prices but maintain that juicy battery life.

Apple Insider is showing this for $1249 through one of their retailer partners (I believe Adorama). This is the same model I have, and I got mine as an Open Box from Best Buy for $1159. It was literally brand new, but the USB-C cord and power brick were unwrapped.

People dogging 8GB have obviously never used an M1 Mac. We all know macOS is more memory efficient than Windows, but I'm still amazed at how much more efficient the M1 is.

I occasionally run some fairly demanding apps, including VirtualDJ. I can't get this thing to break a sweat. Period. Apps that would normally make the fan scream in my previous 2019 13" MBP 1.4GHz still can't even make the fan in my M1 Pro turn on, at all. On top of that, I'd have to close most apps to even run VirtualDJ before, or my whole system would slow to a crawl. Again, I have ZERO slowdown, and memory usage never goes above 50%. As of right now, with 30 Safari tabs open, Mail, Messages, Facebook Messenger, and a graphics design app open, my current memory usage is sitting at around 19% - 25%. My former 2019, more often than not, would pop up a message about memory usage, and close Safari or any other app using up memory. The M1 behaves more like a machine with 16GB, even when running apps through Rosetta 2.

Unless you're running apps with extreme memory needs, 8GB in the M1 is extremely impressive.

I have an M1 mini with 16GB and get constant "waiting for memory." If I only used the machine for surfing then yes, it would be fine with 8GB.

8GB is fine for basic use but a MacBook Pro used to be for higher end. Now it is simply a MacBook Air with a touchbar.

Note VirtualDJ's recommended requirements are a 4GB system so it makes sense you would see no issues with 8GB.

Where are you getting a "waiting for memory" message?
