Apple's M2 MacBook Air (512GB) has dropped to $1,299.99 on Amazon, down from $1,499.00. This sale is available in Starlight and Silver, and right now only Amazon has this price on the 2022 MacBook Air.

This is one of the best prices that we've tracked so far in 2023 on the MacBook Air, and it's an overall second-best price on the notebook compared to holiday sales. Amazon estimates a March 3 delivery date for most United States residences.

This version of the MacBook Air launched in June 2022 with a complete redesign compared to the previous generation, featuring an updated chassis, 13.6-inch Liquid Retina Display, and Apple's M2 chip. Apple also sells a 256GB model but we currently aren't tracking any deals on this version.

You can find even more discounts on other MacBooks by visiting our Best Deals guide for MacBook Pro and MacBook Air. In this guide we track the steepest discounts for the newest MacBook models every week, so be sure to bookmark it and check back often if you're shopping for a new Apple notebook. Worth reminding people that this is, in theory, the laptop for college students. This is still very expensive for that group. No doubt this is more capable than the Airs of yore, but $1300 is no joke when you eat ramen every day.

Edit: APPLE's laptop for college students. Obviously there are alternatives.

Apple really needs to cut the prices for storage upgrades and/or start higher than 256gb. $200 can buy you a top-of-the-line 2tb SSD, or an extra 256gb on an Apple device.
And they need to quit skimping on the unified memory. My MacBook Pro from 2015 had 8GB of RAM. There is no reason to not have at least have 16GB as the base 8 years later.

I kinda get the base as many people are just fine with 8GB of RAM even though that is shrinking. However the step up pre built configuration should have moved to 16GB long ago. Shouldn't have to BTO to get 16GB on the Air (or the iMac or even the non-pro mini).

All of this right here! If Apple would have this same model with 16Gb base, it would fly off of the shelves.

The M2's have no reason to exist. No discount should sway anyone to these things. Get a base M1 air or 14" Pro or wait for the m3's.

I have a 2012 Air that I LOVED, but doesn't work anymore.
I currently use my 2021 16" M1 Max MacBook Pro, but still love the small form factor of the Air for traveling.

This deal is so tempting!

Saw a Microsoft Surface laptop with the four corners rounded rather than the top two on M# series laptops and it looks better similar to an iPad with a keyboard attached to it more uniform and symmetrical IMO.

kinda duh, if you want a MBA and are on a budget, get a M1? Hundreds cheaper. as users of a base M1 mini, and high schoolers with base M1 MBAs -- 8 GB is plenty. wife (WFH) uses the mini to VPN into her work PC all day, zoom meetings, and all the normal stuff, never an issue. oldest works part time as a social media coordinator for a company, uses PS to modify photos + browsers with dozens of tabs... smooth.

You all have to have seen by now how M1/M2 chips handle ram WAY different than intel, right? my 2020 27" iMac struggled with 64 GB of ram, swap all the time. 128 Gb has stopped that, but nearly top put often. And fans ramp up continuously if watching client videos in YT.

The 256GB SSD and 8GB entry-level RAM are both significant barriers to recommending base Apple products at this point. I kind of feel like the latter is a bigger issue in terms of performance, but the former is much more "visible" to the average user.

I expect the best case scenario in the immediate future is we see price cuts to the BTO options (say, upgrading to a 512GB SSD is $100 instead of $200) rather than a boost to the lower-end configs, though. And I totally expect the next time Apple bumps the default RAM it'll only go to 12GB since it's a 24GB ceiling on the M2s currently.

I have an Air M2 and love it. paid $1279 for the 512 GB model. Very happy with my choice.

Yep. I got a 512GB/16GB Air at education pricing level. Sure, I could have gotten more computer for my money with an M1 MBP, but I wanted a light, portable machine with enough upgraded specs that it could last me a long time, and the M2 Air will definitely fit that bill.

Comments that M2 MBA is not worth buying are ridiculous. I have a base model that I bought at BBY when they were running the $999 sale. It's a great machine. Alternative to a high end iPad for me. I recommend it 100%. Note: I also have a base M1P MBP which is better in some ways but not others. MBA is a terrific machine for anyone who wants to do basic stuff, appreciates the light weight and the battery life is terrific.

I'm sure web browsing, listening music, watching YouTube, managing my finances in Excel is not gonna be any faster on this than it already is on my 2020 M1 MacBook Pro.

Seriously. It’s just so egregious. And they’ve locked us in by removing the option to upgrade memory
