Apple's Magic Keyboard for the 11-inch iPad Pro and iPad Air is seeing big discounts at Amazon today and is now available for $209.99, down from $299.00. The keyboard is available in both black and white at this price, although Amazon is showing limited stock of the white version and delivery of both models won't be until just a few days before Christmas.

My household has both a black and a white MK. Something that may be important to some potential buyers is the contrast of the printing on each key in various light conditions. Here’s the difference: the black keyboard is easier to read when the backlight is on, while the white keyboard is easier to read when the backlight is off. Further, the backlight on the black keyboard comes on at a higher ambient light level than on the white keyboard (in other words, if you have each keyboard next to you while the sun is setting, the black keyboard’s backlight will switch on first).

Just curious… if you buy this one and the next iPad Pro has a larger camera bump and you upgrade are you just up a creek then? Just hard to justify these accessories that form-fit to specific models but don’t accommodate potential future changes

That’s exactly what happened with the 2021 model 12.9-inch iPad Pro model.

You also have to buy a new keyboard and trackpad every time you buy a new laptop. ;)

I assume one just sells the old magic keyboard with the old iPad if it won't fit your future new iPad. I assume it would hold its value fairly well if it's in good condition.

If it isn't then you probably want a new one anyway.

That's what I did, sold my iPad with the MKB as a package -- although it was damn hard!

From my experience, at least where I live, about 95% of the people who contacted me from Marketplace and Craigslist only wanted the keyboard... I feel like I could've made more money selling them individually but I was too lazy to set up multiple meetups, especially since many flake last minute.

My highest offer for the keyboard (white 11", nearly mint, had a skin on it since day 1 and only had a little frilling on the edges) was $100 CAD less than new, not bad!

OWC is selling it for $175. Pretty great deal.

I wish they'd knock $100 off the 12.9" one. I'd buy that in a heartbeat. I have an Amazon Renewed I just got for a decent price and it looks almost brand new... but I'd prefer new :p

If Apple release iPad pro with MacOs, I would sell my MBP 16 and buy it. For my need that would be enough...... wait...

Just checked the price... iPad pro 12.9/ 512GB with Apple Pencil and a keyboard costs just $230 less than my MBP 16! So, I won't be buying it...

Drop it to $89…
My original Apple Smart Keyboard started failing (and falling apart) after just 3 years so I recently got a Zagg keyboard for $87, and it’s fantastic. It’s a bit heavier, but it provides far better protection, backlit keys, function keys, and keeps my Apple Pencil in place.

The downside is that I have to charge it separately and it connects via BT, but considering it’s half the price of a Smart Keyboard and 1/3 the price of the Magic Keyboard, this is a great alternative, and I would highly recommend it over Apple’s over-priced keyboard/case.

To be honest, the Magic Keyboard is totally overpriced and yet worth every penny. It completely changed my iPad from being more of a toy and more into something I could use for everything, including work.

Best accessory they’ve made in a long time, and I’d pay full price for it again in a heartbeat if I had to.

I'm proud to have gotten mine on sale for 150 dollars last year during a sale. I feel like that is a good price point being 50 percent off.

They also sell the 12.9 for 194.88 https://eshop.macsales.com/item/Apple/MJQL3LLA/

155 off MSRP

My iPad is 12.9" Pro. A 350$ keyboard that can seat the iPad in only one orientation? No way!

And since the iPad always sits beside my Mac, I prefer the fantastic 'Universal Control' feature since macOS 12.

One of my favourite apple products

- yes it’s overpriced but it’s also great. I would even say the keyboard is better than my iMac one. And iPadOS works great with a trackpad.
- the lack of media keys is a non issue for me
