I just bought a 64gb wifi model of the iPad mini 5 last Friday! Thankfully, best buy can price match their own listing but my question is, does this mean a new iPad Mini is coming? Any idea?

Last time I bought the Macbook Air (2019), Apple released the 2020 for better price soon after my return period is over so I am pretty unlucky (or rather dumb) in that department. iPad Mini 5 is a dream iPad for me due to its portability aspect however I am not sure if I should be smart this time and wait for the new one - if there is any ...

** Just noticed Macrumors changed iPad Mini from “Caution“ to “Don’t Buy” in their Buyer’s Guide. Really concerned if I should just go ahead and return it instead of getting the Best Buy’s price match and be fine with it...

There was a price reduction on March 11th, but it was only $50. The same questions were raised at that point, my thought at the time was if $50 is the lowest price ever, I'll just wait. My mother in law has a mini 2 that she has had since it was introduced. It was a great machine but lately it has been running slow and its always out of memory. If $50 off was the best price ever on 3/11 and now $100 is the best price off on 4/20, I'm not sure what it means. We did just order her a new 2020 iPhone SE so she is very use to the home button and we might go ahead and upgrade her mini now.

I get the feeling a new model is coming soon , maybe May. I think the mini is the perfect travel size but unless it's a pro version with a borderless screen I'm not gonna bite. My model 3 works just fine until Apple offers me what I want

You might compare the mini and the 11" Pro, we had a mini 2 cell back when it was introduced and loved it but phones were smaller back then, my 7+ made me use the mini almost never. So we sold it. Late last year I picked up a lightly used 11" Pro and I love using it over my XS.

I have the Mini 4 and love it, but reports of iOS 14 not working with it concerns me. Still, there's not enough of an incentive to upgrade to the 5 because they're so similar, albeit improved here and there.

I have the thinner bezel 11” Pro face ID and Mini 4 and just waiting to buy a 8” Face ID slimmer bezel Mini 6 or Pro model! I just hope that Apple with this new Mini release does not continue to hold back the RAM and use 2-3 old components. The U-1 chip? Mini LED?

Love my mini 5! Great for media consumption and I think it’s fine to sketch on too!

The mini 5 has a True Tone P3 fully laminated screen, unlike the 4. It’s a hugely better screen and I wouldn’t consider anything older. It’s also got an A12 processor, supports the Apple Pencil, has Bluetooth 5, fast charging if you use a USB-C charger. It’s an absolute beast compared to the 4, performance wise.

I had an iPad mini 2 which I loved, but when I bought a 2018 9.7" iPad 6th I realized that a 9.7" screen is the minimum size to read a magazine, book etc, now I'm looking for a slightly bigger screen, likely the next iPad Air generation.

Mini 5 is the true iPad. I don’t understand the bigger ones. They’re not comfortable to use in hand, and they’re not as capable as Macs.
The 10.5" iPad Air has only 456g, the MacBook Air has almost three times the weight: 1290g.

I gave my mother an iPad mini 2 several years ago, and the battery just isn't holding a charge any longer, but she still loves it. I really think the mini has been the perfect iPad for her, and likely others of her generation, who value simplicity over cutting edge technology. Having a a physical home button makes using it so much easier for her. I've been wanting to get her a new iPad for a while now so Best Buy's discount seems to be a good incentive for me to do so. If they release a new Mini soon, I'm still okay with that as it likely would add more complexity to use (lack of home button). If I were buying this for me, it would be a very different story.

The iPad Mini is the same footprint as a medium-large paperback book. It’s easy to hold in one hand, it’s easy to use on the go, it’s just the right size. It fits in large jacket pockets and on small nightstands.

The iPad Air weighs 50% more than the iPad Mini, it’s a big difference. It’s less portable due to its large footprint - more like a magazine than a book.

Pretty awesome deal ! I'd hop on it if I were in the market for one (and didn't already own one)

I bought from Best Buy last month when they had the 64GB mini at $349...online support chat price adjusted it for me because the return/exchange window has been extended with the lovely lockdown we are all dealing with.

For that price, I'd probably pick up one. Sadly, all these friendly offers seem to be US only (the EU pricing is disturbingly stable for the Mini, ~420€ here in Germany).

Just jumping on the "I love my Mini 5" bandwagon, in case anyone is on the fence. It's fantastic. No regrets on upgrading from my 4 last year (my nephew needed a device, so I gifted him my 4 as an excuse to buy the 5. :p )

I doubt a new device is coming without any rumors whatsoever, and with the strained supply chains around the phones and everything else.
