The 2021 Apple TV 4K has been seeing solid discounts ever since Apple announced the new model earlier this month. Today, the 64GB 2021 Apple TV 4K has dropped to a new all-time low of $109.99, down from an original price of $199.00.

Apple's new 2022 Apple TV 4K models are launching at low price points: $129 for 64GB and $149 for 128GB. With these new discounts on 2021 models, it's a bit easier to recommend an older generation model to anyone who is more inclined to save money over wanting the newest model.

In addition to the 64GB model, the 32GB 2021 Apple TV 4K is on sale for $99.99, down from $179.00. This is also an all-time low price, and both models are in stock and ready to ship from Amazon today.

Those interested in the new 2022 model can still save a bit of money with a pre-order discount on Amazon. If you're on the hunt for more discounts, be sure to visit our Apple Deals roundup where we recap the best Apple-related bargains of the past week.

For $15 extra, get the new one. You get fanless A15 which will last you much longer.

Think I'd go for the new one as well, although I'd have to go for the more expensive one so I'd have a wired connection.
I honestly never knew the previous ones had fans, never heard them.
Same here - total Apple engineering, which I love, they're so good (most of the time).

I’d spend that extra $20 on A15.

Ethernet gets a little tricker. Save $40 and get A12, spend $40 and get A15.

That’s the only decision you have to make here. Because if you need HDR10+, the decision is already made.

For that 20 dollars I would just get the new one, unless you're gonna use ethernet.
...or Thread (Homekit, Matter).

But also, the extra 32GB in the new ATV is essentially useless unless you play games w/ ATV. For everyone else 32GB is more than plenty - I have a couple dozen channel apps on my ATVs, most of which I never use but haven't bothered to remove because no need too. The A12 on the 2021 is hardly a laggard on ATVs UI and scrolling -- any annoyances are poor choices made by the devs of the individual channel apps which the 2022 models cannot fix.

So seems to me, unless Apple tells us why we might need the A15 or 64+GB storage outside of gaming, really the 2021 32GB for $99 is the one to get for anyone that doesn't have a HRD10+ TV because it still offers enough storage, the updated remote, of course sans USB-C charging, big deal, but retains full Homekit, Matter, and Thread support and the Enet port.

I would go with the 2021 model since I don’t need the extra gigs.

But I do need thread which is another reason to get the 2021 model on sale at the moment.

But, I have a Samsung tv so do need HDR10

Great price! I got the 32gb for $104.99 on Amazon i wonder if they would credit me the $5.00? I actually like the heft of it. It feels premium. Although I rarely move it. I also have a new 32gb coming.

I’m a Fan of roku, but their ultra is going on 2 years with no internal updates and I am really enjoying the Apple TV.

Just ordered the 2021 32GB version for $99

With my Amazon gift cards it came down to $7

Super excited. Haven’t had an Apple TV since like 2011.

Sucks the 2021 version doesn’t have HDR10 support for my Samsung 4K TV but am glad it does support THREAD for my upcoming HomeKit devices.

In Europe the 2021 model is still going strong at 199 euro.

And the 2022 model is 169 euro.
Ridiculous.

They think we’re stupid?

I agree with this. My 2021 ATV 32 worked great until we tried Apple Arcade and downloaded a bunch of Apple Arcade gaming Apps...it started acting sluggish and crashing. Note that regular gaming apps weren't the issue...just the Apple Arcade games that require more memory. We deleted the Apple Arcade games and no more issues. If you plan to use Apple Arcade...get the larger sizes.

IMO if I had a Samsung 4K tv I would spend the extra $30 for the 2022 Apple TV with HDR 10+ without a doubt. You're already invested in the Samsung TV and you're not touching its full capabilities without HDR 10+. I don't like counting peoples money but from your device list it seems like you're doing alright and the $30 wouldn't hurt ya. Just my 2 cents

I think that's a good deal if you need the storage, however, since the 2022 jumps from the A12 to the A15, a quite significant performance jump, I think the 2022 32GB for $129.99 is better deal. I look forward to receiving mine next Friday to replace my 2017 ATV4K.

I hear ya, I understand.

This NU6900 4K Samsung TV is considered to be the budget tv they sell. 55inch 4K Samsung for only $349 was a steal imo.

But seeing all the reviews online they say it’s not the best which is insane cause I think the picture quality is gorgeous. What I’ve always hated in this Samsung tv was the included smart tv software. Netflix, hulu, etc are all godly slow. YouTube is slightly okay. So glad the Apple TV will replace all that.

Reason I went with the 2021 version is cause I know for a fact once our home security system contract ends in a few months this household will convert to all HomeKit cameras, so Thread support is important.

That and being the Apple geek that I am, I want to see the true quality difference between the 2021 & 2022 AppleTV 4K versions; meaning in a few months I’ll most likely purchase the 2022 model and either sell this 2021 version to recoup some money or place it downstairs on my smaller 2K monitor.

If it’s super drastic then I’ll exchange it to the 2022 version via Amazon. But the prices at checkout were $7 for the 2021 version or $65 for the 2022 version; as you can see the 2021 version for $7 was a no brainer.

I wish there was a comparison version between Samsung hdr and non hdr. At least am
Hoping someone compares the 21 and 22 Apple TV 4Ks in a few weeks then they ship.

Simply future proofing, the A15+64GB will mean that you can use it for longer.

The 2022 32GB doesn’t have ethernet. So I picked up a 2021 32GB that does for less.
