If you have an 11-inch iPad Pro or a 4th or 5th gen iPad Air, this is a great deal for a great accessory. In my opinion, the Magic Keyboard adds so much functional value to the iPad as it provides a trackpad, a second USB-C port, and doubles as a case. Oh and it has backlit keys and you don’t need to charge it. Since the usual $299 price is definitely a bit steep, this is a great discount.

I could not bear to lose Touch ID at this point. Even when I'm using my mechanical keyboard, I keep my Magic Keyboard close because I'm lazy as hell.

It adds a second charging port to be exact as you can't plug anything else into the case charging port, but it does allow you to charge and use a usb device at the same time.

Agreed. Touch ID is hard to live without now. There are some mechanical KB that pop up from time to time that catch my eye but I end up passing once I consider losing TID.

I wonder if Touch ID will ever get opened up to 3 party vendors? Or is it a security thing?

These keyboards are absolutely terrible. They are the epitome of form at the expense of function. Spend a little more and get a nice DAS keyboard instead.

I wish the function key on the smaller keyboard was 3 spaces to the right so it’s between thee we Command and Space Keys. Alas I use the full size keyboard with nPad not because I need the numpad, but because the Control key is on the outside and better for my muscle memory.

Expensive but they’ve been the most reliable ones I’ve had experience with (we don’t talk about butterfly mbp)

I agree. At my desk I use a 12.9” iPad with the Magic Keyboard (paired with the Twelve South curved stand). It is reliable and an excellent keyboard but the price is obscene.
