The new Apple TV 4K is now available to purchase today, and Amazon is still offering a small $4 discount on the streaming device, which it first introduced as a pre-order sale last week. You can get the 64GB Wi-Fi model for $124.99, down from $129.00.

While not a massive discount, this is still a notable deal given it's the first discount on the 2022 Apple TV 4K. Because these are brand new, we don't expect much steeper discounts than this to come out any time soon. Although Black Friday is imminent, we are expecting notable sales to focus more on 2021 models, likely dipping below $100.

Likewise, the 128GB Wi-Fi + Ethernet Apple TV 4K is on sale for $144.99, down from $149.00. Only Amazon is offering these launch day discounts on the new Apple TV 4K models.

We're keeping track of all of the season's best Apple-related deals in our Black Friday roundup, so be sure to check back throughout the month for an updated list of all the most notable discounts you'll find for Black Friday 2022.

Launch day deals, oh no 🙈 if people want it they'll want it at full price.

I remember when Apple used to have price embargoes, wonder why that stopped 🤔

$5 down on launch day ... will be on sale for $99 before year end - buy for me
This $5 discount on launch day on Amazon has become something of a regular thing for Apple products lately. I wouldn't read into it as them expecting poor sales

Probably around Black Friday of ‘23 the ‘22 model will be in the $99 range.

I wonder what's going on with this launch in the UK/Europe? No-one(?) getting launch day deliveries from Apple, none showing as available in any of the UK Apple stores and Amazon showing 1-2 months.

I remember back in the 1990s Apple forbid ComputerCity(?), or one of the retail chains anyway, from selling their products because they offered sale deals on them. They would discount a printer if you bought a Mac, and it pissed off Apple. Apple can be a bunch of d**ks when they want to be.

Just buy the last gen model for $75 on FB marketplace. These things last a while and there’s no reason to pay a premium for this model.

In fact, Apple should license ATV OS like Roku, Fire, and Google TV. It’s silly to pay $130 for this when great 65” smart TVs can be had for $500.

Probably CompUSA, they had a reasonably large Apple presence

Yes, they use the deals to get buyers, but now that they set the precedent, people will hold out for the deals.

The $5 discount is Amazon's way of getting free advertising.

1. Amazon discounts launch day product by $5 bellow MSRP.
2. Coupon / Aggregator sites post about it as a "deal" and link to the Amazon page with their affiliate link.

For the AppleTV 4K 2022 at $129 MSRP:
$129 MSRP - $5 discount = $124
4% affiliate commission * $124 = ~$5

Amazon ends up taking an 8% haircut on the MSRP but gets the sale, gets the data on the buyers, and keeps the affiliate ecosystem happy. Win win.

I'm elated. My order arrived today. I got it plugged in, set up and running in a matter of minutes. I've successfully run 25 camera streams (via streamieapp.com) on the previous generation and this latest one handled 36 (6x6 grid) just fine -- which is roughly the equivalent of running nine 4k video streams.

The Apple TV really is my favorite Apple device. I wish Apple showed it a little bit more love.

None of my existing products are broken, so there is zero need to buy anything.

I have never been on the "must have" train. Heck I still use my 2009 27" iMac, my 2011 Mac mini server.....

This perpetual you must buy this new thing for "reasons" is destroying the planet.

I think the Mac is still my favorite Apple device
I should have clarified: dollar-for-dollar. I like my $5k Mac Studio waaaay more than an Apple TV. And the Mac Studio, I believe, can scale up to around 200 such streams, but the Apple TV impresses me because of what it can do and its price point.
