A new Discover Samsung event has kicked off this week on the retailer's website, discounting a wide selection of monitors, TVs, and more home electronics for a limited time. Specifically, this sale runs through May 21, although some deals will last for one day only during this weeklong event.

Monitors

Starting with monitors, Samsung has its iMac-like Smart Monitor M8 for $499.99, down from $699.99. This is a second-best price on the monitor, but still a solid deal at $200 off the original price.

Samsung's Smart Monitor M8 has a design very similar to the new 24-inch iMacs, and it uses USB-C charging connectivity and includes AirPlay support. All four colors are available at this discounted price during the event.

Besides the Smart Monitor M8, we've rounded up a few other items you can get on sale during the Discover Samsung event. One of the best deals in this sale is Samsung's curved 55-inch Odyssey Ark 4K monitor for $1,999.99 ($1,000 off).

TVs

Samsung is also discounting a collection of TVs, with as much as $2,700 off select models for this week only. Samsung's sale is mainly focused on discounts for 4K and 8K QLED TVs, with multiple sizes available. As with the monitor sale, all markdowns have been applied automatically and you don't need any coupon code to get these deals.

My 2 cents: stay the f* away from any samsung monitor!

I bought a samsung odyssey G9 neo last year ($1500-$2000) and I regret it every day.
The monitor makes ticking sounds every 2-3 seconds, louder than my Mac Studio, the screen randomly flickers, 2 dead pixels, which is less than an arbitrary number of dead pixels that require a replacement, and the OSD menu has a 1-2 seconds response lag.
"Best" part, I've been trying for the past 6 (six!) months to get it fixed/replaced.
They first wanted to send someone to my home to fix the monitor - are you f* kidding me?
Then they sent the return box (I kept the original box, but you can't use that for returns!?) to the wrong address - which I provided in an email to them.
I wrote them to fix the address - they sent the second box to the wrong address, again.
Not to mention that their customer care replies after 2+ weeks "We're sorry, we have a high number of enquires" - I f* imagine.
F* samsung and their ****** products and customer care!

Has there been any news about an actual release date for the Samsung Viewfinity S9 from CES? Did we all just hallucinate that or what?
And the Ultra-wide 55-inch Odyssey 8K.
I'm waiting for both to see what's the best option price/quality and what would fit a Mac Mini M2 Pro better...

I guess you’re done using apple products if you don’t want to be using Samsung monitors.

Not sure if the generalization about Samsung monitors is correct. But even if it is, and even if an Apple monitor uses a Sammy panel, that wouldn't necessarily mean you'd want to stay away from that Apple monitor.

For instance, most find the Retina display in the 27" iMacs to be great, even though it's made with the same panel as that in the 27" 5k LG monitor, about which numerous QC issues have been reported. I.e., the QC issues seen in the LG monitor aren't seen in the Apple display made with the same panel. That could be because Apple enforces more stringent QC rejection on the panels that go into its monitors, and/or because Apple does a much better job assembling a quality display using that panel.

Where'd you hear that? According to The Verge, at CES Samsung said it would be released "in the coming months", implying ~1H 2023.
I read that it would be released "during the first quarter". Since the first quarter of this year is already over, I assumed that meant next year.

I would guess that the viewfinity S9 would be released after this sale is finished. maybe around WWDC?
Let’s face it, it is positioned as an Apple studio display competitor (a bit cheaper I suppose), as the dell 6K is positioned as a cheaper version of an Apple Pro Display XDR competitor.

Samsung might as well wait to see if Apple does anything display-wise and then settle on the S9 RRP accordingly.

Why can't Apple make a display with ProMotion. The ProMotion in the MBP is awesome! Just put it on a normal monitor.
ProMotion is not straightfoward with 5K and 6K displays due to the limited bandwidth of the Thunderbolt port.

This is what I’ve also been thinking.

Perhaps they were expecting an Apple Event in March/April hence why they stated 1st Quarter.

Another reason for the delay could also be production issues perhaps?

Hopefully we won’t have too long to wait!

First quarter of 2024? It does not seem to be wise to showcase monitor one year before releasing it.
Maybe Samsung pleading this past January „… if you can hold off on buying that overpriced StudioDisplay for one year, there will be an alternative …“ :)

I bought that Smart Monitor M8 the last time they had a discover sale. It was the worst monitor I have ever used. It went back the very next day. Bad picture quality aside, it wants to be a smart tv more than it wants to be a desktop monitor. When I would disconnect it from one machine to connect to another it would switch to tv mode and start playing a preview of some random stream and then would require the remote to switch inputs over to the new machine. Turning it on, it would start in tv mode. If the panel was actually good and the intended use was as a tv and occasional monitor, I would say buy it. However the panel is not suitable for a tv viewing experience due to the small viewing angles.
