Hoping one of these days these docks will feature a 10 Gigabit LAN port. I want to fully utilize my 10GbE network and NAS and the adapters that are out there are still running very hot or are too expensive.

Would you mind sharing the make/models of the components used in your 10GbE network? I'm assuming this is your home network.

Gotta say, these docks actually look really cool. If I needed one, the drool factor would definitely be on for one of these.
Honestly, who needs so many USB-A ports these days? I don't have anything to connect there anymore.
It really just depends on what you have and if its not new. I still have alot of USB-A stuff.

That's (going to be) a QNAP TS-431X3 NAS -> TP-Link TL-SX3008F switch connected everything with CAT6A cables

Interesting. I got an email from Anker this morning regarding new Series 5/6/7 hubs and docking stations, at least one featuring Thunderbolt 4 ports, that are now available through their website and Amazon. Looks like OWC is reacting quickly. Competition is good.

Time Machine Backup drive
Clone of system drive
External data drive
Clone of external data drive
Scanner
Printer
Blu-Ray/DVD/CD drive
Audio/MIDI interface
Roland GP-10 guitar processor
Empty port for USB flash drive/connecting to digital camera/etc.

No, I don't need to have all of those connected at once, but it's more convenient than plugging and unplugging devices. I have a 10-port Anker USB 3.0 hub that I bought several years ago for about $80.

Doh! I just paid $123 for the OWC hub last week for my M1 mini. Works great but, sheesh the power supply is yhuuuge — as big as the hub itself. Also the power cable is super bulky. There is something be said for having plenty of ports on the actual computer. The desktop clutter sucks.

Yup. It's not like everyone runs out and replaces all their devices because of TB/USB C. It's either a hub or endless dongles.

I love the ports on these but they don't work well and I have a couple die (5 total owned).

I am currently using dell's version with some success - not the best port selection though.

Exactly. The Thunderbolt Hub looks nice - three Thunderbolt ports and only one USB-A. But I’m not buying anything at this point that adds a bunch of USB-A ports… I have plenty of old USB-A hubs if I need that.

…As does anyone who has a bunch of USB-A stuff.

Yes my OWC TBolt2 Dock died slowly, Ethernet first then another port but it had lasted a few years. I also have the dell dock as they are so cheap (used) for the port selection. Still wish it wasn't so hard to manage multi monitor on the M1 Macs

I have the OWC thunderbolt dock. The design annoys me - I have cables coming out of both sides. Totally functional but they missed the ball on form.

This annoys me about every USB-C/Thunderbolt dock these days. They’ll be packed with USB-A ports with maybe one USB-C for power delivery.

When I say this, people point out that USB 3 can transmit fine on a C-to-A cable… but that’s not my point! All the vaunted simplicity of USB-C is lost when I need to buy new cables for every C device.

Why the heck would you put the main computer connection plug on the FRONT. The whole point is for this to sit on my desk connected to my computer, I don't want the freaking cable sticking out the front.

Beware that if you want to be able to use HomePod mini as the speaker for your computer while using tge OWC 10Gbs port you won’t be able to. There is a bug preventing you from airplaying to HomePod while connected to a 10Gbs port.
