PayPal's Digital Gifts eBay storefront has the latest discount on App Store and iTunes gift cards today, offering the $100 iTunes gift card for $85. This 15 percent off sale matches previous sales we've seen on iTunes gift cards throughout the year, and the sales usually last for a few days, but it could end sooner.

Note: MacRumors is an affiliate partner with some of these vendors. When you click a link and make a purchase, we may receive a small payment, which helps us keep the site running.

Like previous discounts, you'll need to have a PayPal account to see the savings and the gift card will be valid only on purchases made in the United States. The card is electronic, so once you place your order you'll get an email within a few hours with a code that you can use to fill up your Apple ID with the credit.

iTunes gift cards are good for buying movies, TV shows, and books on Apple's digital storefronts, as well as paying for subscriptions like Apple Music, Netflix, and Hulu. These discounts on iTunes gift cards come around once every few weeks (and sometimes take longer to reemerge), so if you've been waiting for a sale you should head to eBay soon before the bargain ends.

The iTunes gift card sale is happening amid Apple's ongoing horror movie sale on iTunes Movies. These include $1 rentals, $5 classic and modern films, and under $20 series bundles. You can check out some of the movies in the Halloween sale below.

PayPal UK hasn’t had an iTunes sale for four and a half years. In fact iTunes digital GC sales have largely become non-existent. It has become incredibly uncompetitive, free market forces at their best. /s

I keep getting an eBay checkout error. anyone else having the same?
I’ve been getting this error for the last two eBay gift card sales. For me it did last during the entirety of the sale and I ended up being unable to complete my purchases.

The words Apple and Horror shouldn't be used in the same sentence. I immediately think of some type of data loss or bricked devices via updates.

If you have a Chase Freedom card you can get an additional 5% off on top of the 15% this quarter. ;) Or an additional 5.25% if you have a BofA Cash Rewards and "platinum" status ...
Nice. Does that work if you check out via PayPal? If so I wonder if I could pull 2% off this by paying for it with my Citi Double Cash card...

If you pay for iTunes purchases directly using the Apple card, you get 3% cash back. Buying a gift card through PayPal/eBay and saving 15% is a better deal.

You’re saying “3%” which I believe only applies to purchases at Apple, not to gift cards, so wouldn’t it be only 2%?

How do you get 3% with the Apple card? Your purchasing thru PayPal/Ebay not Apple.

You’re saying “3%” which I believe only applies to purchases at Apple, not to gift cards, so wouldn’t it be only 2%?

I'm comparing this gift card (at 15% off) with just using Apple Card directly to pay for Apple services, apps, etc (3% cash back).

These movie sales always annoy the crap out of me. I have a horror movie that sold like crazy when it was on sale. However, Apple curates the sales themselves and decides the discounts, so we can’t just say, “Hey, sell our movie for $5 to own”. Apple just sets our price.

It’s backwards from the App Store where developers DO set their own price / can offer discounts.

We ended up negotiating with our distributor for the right to sell our own movie DRM-free on our own site for a flat $5 year-round, just to ensure there was an affordable option. But it’s far from convenient for the end user to buy from us and download and transfer to a TV. I’d rather Apple take their 30% of $5 and make much more sales than the $10-$14 they usually sell us at.

Edit to add: $1 rentals are the holy grail on iTunes. I’d leave my movie at $1 rental forever if Apple would just let me! We’d make way more money AND get way more viewers. Win/win.

Are you allowed to discuss which movie?

It’s a movie called The Battery. It’s a very small movie that played 50 film festivals around the world and then debuted in the top 20 of iTunes. It was also for sale on DVD in every WalMart store in the US (a metric I only mention because... holy **** I can’t believe that happened and is cooler to experience in person than any streaming release).

I wish it were for sale for a constant $.99 cent rental, but I’m also against piracy, because our ratio of piracy was about 50 pirated downloads per 1 legit rental. Piracy is simply too prevalent for a small movie, with a limited audience, to survive. It’s not the fact that it exists that bums me out, just the ratio of paying customers vs pirates. I think I’d be happy giving away 10 copies for every 1 rental... but 50? The ratio sucks.
