Back in March, Apple launched the new 10.5-inch iPad Air with Touch ID, a headphone jack, A12 Bionic processor, support for the Apple Pencil, and compatibility with the Smart Keyboard. Today, B&H Photo and Amazon have kicked off the first sales for the 2019 iPad Air, discounting select configurations by up to $40.

There are both Wi-Fi and cellular options in the sale, with prices beginning at $474. These discounts aren't particularly steep given how new the iPad Air is, but they are notable for being the first markdowns on the line since its launch in March.

And still no iPad Mini deals.

Okay, there was one for something like $10-$15 dollars, but…WTF?

And still no iPad Mini deals.

The Mini is $399.00, there really won’t be that many discounts for an iPad that is already $400 as it is. Plus, in order for discounts usually to be applied, it depends on the amount of stock a retailer has and how quickly they are selling.

Then why does the budget iPad go on sale? I had gotten that once for $249. Back in 2018.

I think it’s more because they know that the kind of folks who will buy a Mini are the kind of folks who need a Mini for some reason. So screw over the captive audience.

I’m not sure if the person above me is speaking of the new iPad Air, but I remember it being on sale once, and I’m pretty sure twice already. So this whole Gets First Price Drop….

That’s why I’m so aggravated by the Mini’s lack of sales.

How is Samsung able to sell the Galaxy Tab S5e (10.5"minimal bezels, sAMOLED, Quad Speakers AKG Tuned, 4-6GB RAM, Finger Print Sensor, etc) for less than the iPad Air 2019 models. Shameful cash grab by Apple, these things should start at $399 or less for the base 64GB model Air. The mini should start at $299 for the same 5 generation design.

Plus the base storage should start at 128GB for these prices.

I wonder how the additional taxes would effect these prices in the short to medium term.
