All of these smartphones have been refurbished and are expected to have a moderate level of wear and tear, but Woot promises that each device has been tested and will be in full working condition. Additionally, batteries are tested to function at minimum 85 percent capacity.

Lastly, Woot today also has a deal on the Retina 4K 21.5-inch iMac from 2017 (3.0 GHz, 8GB RAM, 1TB) for $979.99, down from an original price of $1,299.00. Being based in the U.K. I am not familiar with Woot. Is this basically for poor people?

My current iPhone is at 6s at 87%, and basically performance reduction is on and the battery life is terrible (lockdown happened while I was planning the replacement). So these phones would not be in a good condition.

that iCertify warranty is really interesting. i bought one of the macbook pro deals about a month ago - refurbished by apple but no apple warranty. when i received it the battery was 100% dead. coconut battery showed that the battery had 6 cycles on it. the machine must have been an immediate return which was refurbed by apple and then lost in a warehouse somewhere for 2 years.

apple wanted $230 or so to put a new battery in. woot initially offered me $100 under their own warranty but when i asked they upped it to $200. the refund was handled immediately. now i'm wondering if they've had so many warranty claims on these refurb apple products that they have farmed the warranty out to someone else. no idea who iCertify is or if they would handle a claim so quickly.

If the batteries are expected to be 85%+ and we are to expect minor scuffs and cosmetic wear and tear - what is the “refurbishment” here? To me it sounds like good old used phones that have undergone normal wear and tear..

You know those "offers" by AT&T/Verizon/T-Mobile to buy your iPhone to make your new iPhone purchase appear to be cheaper?

This is where those phones go.

Ummmm, if the iMac in question is brand-new and factory sealed then why doesn’t it have an Apple one-year warranty?

Buyer beware. I ordered one of the refurbed original iPhone SEs woot had for sale a few weeks ago and what was sent was an absolute joke....

It was the wrong color (rose gold instead of gold). It came with a 3rd party USB adapter and a 3rd party lightning bolt cable. The screen was shattered in the corner and was only held together by the cheap protective case it was sitting in. The phone had multiple dents from being dropped. AAAand, the packaging had what looked like a pubic hair sitting right at the center of the phone.

The good news is returning was easy and they paid for the return shipping. I was still super bummed.

it's simple. apple sold these to amazon "as-is" with no promise of support, cheap. now amazon is selling them but of course have to disclose that the machines have no apple warranty.

Because it is a 2017 model and NOT new.

it is new though, read the description. but as i just said there's nothing stopping apple from wholesaling something to amazon cheap with the warning that they will not provide any warranty.

I'm guessing that Woot isn't an authorized reseller, and so their purchase of the iMac counts as original, and so the purchase date is beyond the 1 year warranty.
