No links and a post obviously not ready for posting? I guess I'll go find them myself.

Intel MacBooks should be going for a 20-30% discount at the least, also, who would invest on an "open box" computer bought from Woot, what happened while the box was opened? I have been using my 2018 MBA for two years now, will advertise it as "open box" when I sell it.

Not a good deal, folks. You can find these same computers, brand new, at other retailers for the same price or less. For example, Costco has the 2020 Intel i3 Air for $849 brand new. Micro Center has the 2020 Intel i5 Air for $1039, brand new, and that includes 16gb of RAM. Do you ever do your market research Woot!, before you dump these terrible used computer deals on us?

Here's the Micro Center deal:

Keep in mind Amazon owns Woot so these are products returned by Amazon customers. These were returned for a reason (though sometimes just because someone changed their mind).

Also the lack of warranty is not justified for the discount given. Do yourself a favor and wait for a deal on something new or watch the Apple refurbished store. Those products have been thoroughly tested and have a good warranty

You need to be careful making posts like this - about a month ago I also expressed a similar opinion about another product-based article and the post was removed and I was banned from the forums for 3 days :-/.
You were banned for helping MR readers not make a bad purchase?

Woot, back in the day, was a great place to find deals, but this "open box" pricing can be beaten easily and for NEW items at that. Come on Amazon, you can do better than this; just call it used & be upfront with your customers. ☹️

More than that. M1 chip has basically made all Intel chip computers obsolete. Yes you might have need for more RAM or discrete GPU or other reasons that mean you need what you have and not the new M1 stuff. But everything is obsolete now. And Apple popping three computers at once with M1 (including their two most popular models) means Apple can produce this chip at scale now. M1 (or a higher power M1X) is likely coming for iMacs and Mac Pros in less than six months. They will crush everything available in the market. So even new computers should all get marked down by 20% at least.

As someone who has actually purchased an iPad Pro from Woot, I don't get what people here are going off about.
Woot sells different types of used tech: Open box, Refurbished and Scratch and Dent. Open Box are excess stock from Amazon sales returns mostly, and to the poster above who said 'Returns are returned for a reason,' uh yeah it's called "Buyer's Remorse." That's a big thing with higher priced Apple products, just ask anyone who works retail. My last three Macbook purchases have all been Open Box, and though I gave each one a serious twice-over before deciding to keep it ever single purchase has saved me hundreds over buying brand new. It's like buying a demo vehicle instead of new: it may as well be new but since it's technically been used they can't charge full price.

Next up is Refurb, and these are a little more complicated because usually (but not always) they are refurbed by a third party and not Apple. I purchased a 2018 256GB 11" iPad Pro wifi + Cellular last October for 704 including taxes, and the thing arrived looking brand new. Of course I went over every inch of the outside and then ran it through its paces with an app called iMazing, and everything checked out. I've been using it for a year now at home, in the air for movies and games and on the ground as an external monitor on shoots and it's worked flawlessly. I saved 400 bucks after taxes and could not be more satisfied with it and Woot.

Finally we have Scratch and Dent (S+D/S&D) and these are the mixed bag you need to be wary of. Woot actually does a good job explaining on the listing what a Scratch and Dent item is, but people still feel cheated when their item arrived scratched and/or dented. Some look brand new other than a couple minor signs of wear, some look like they were dragged behind a team of horses down the highway. The problem is Woot doesn't give you the option to choose level of wear, you just click Purchase and take your chances. It is 100% luck of the draw in regards to what you end up with, but at least Woot has a great return policy so if you do get a trashed item you can send it back for a full refund.

Basically, people need to get off the Woot hate train, especially those who have never actually purchased an item like these from them, which is everyone that's trashed them so far in this thread. You're not performing any sort of service by rehashing what you heard from someone else that may or may not have been telling the truth.

All these Woot ads are the reason I quit paying $25/year for membership. I'm only seeing a few additional ads without it 🙄
