Dear Apple, I just purchased a 7 Plus...

Dear Apple,

You really let me down today. I was ready to purchase the iPhone X until your keynote. I knew the iPhone 8 was going to get outclassed by the iPhone X, but everything embarrassing today. The 8 had basically no upgrades from the 7 and was just created to make the X look better. The iPhone X looked amazing until a few things -

1) Face ID did not work during a controlled live demo...ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!? You're telling me this is going to work at night when I'm in my bed or when I go to use it at my desk? Get out!!!

2) I knew it was going to be $999 for the cheapest storage option and that I would pay $100 more for the next tier...but now you're charging $150 for the next tier? Like $999 isn't already enough, now you wan't $1,150 for the next tier??? C'mon Timmy! Now you're just getting greedy...not for the elite my ass.

3) That top bar/notch does not look bad when the rest of the top screen is black to blend in with it...but the way you designed the software in most Apps it looks ugly...actually, terrible!

4) And you want people to wait almost another 2 months? LOL

Now, after everything I realized I was not going to buy the X and just settle on the 8 Plus. But after comparing the 8 Plus to the 7 Plus there's really no difference. Wow, wireless charging capabilities (charger sold separately), more FPS in Slo Mo, and TrueTone (which I turn off on my other iDevices)...not to mention the 8 Plus actually weighs more and is bigger in size!

I just purchased a 7 Plus (128GB) since the price went down to $769. You lost my business and maybe next year you'll decide to make a truly great phone instead of milking your loyal customers to pay for your new campus and hit new stock highs.

Exactly. I still love Apple products, hence the reason I purchased the 7 Plus.

But they're not making as much off of me as they would have if I purchased it yesterday since they just dropped the price. And they sure as hell would have made more money from me if I purchased an 8 or X today.

Now multiply that by the thousands (or millions) of people who could do the same thing and they'll start to innovate.

I mean, the 8 was literally created so they could charge a premium on the X. Just like the Apple TV 4K...instead of charging the current price of an ATV4 they just made it more expensive (and kept the ATV4) so they could charge a premium.

I'm with you on this.

Recently bought my mom a 7+ Red, no option to wait and buy the 8 because I wasn't going to be able to see her again for a while and I wanted to upgrade her phone.

I was wondering if I would regret that decision but after today, not really!

In fact, I'm glad I got her the 7+ because she specifically wanted the Red option!
