I have been so excited for this week to get here, I literally have been counting down the days here and Sunday I was called up at the cabin fishing and was told my Cousin ended his life.

As excited as I was to get my new iPhone 4, I have been really torn now because a part of me just doesn't wanna be happy this week anymore.

I guess it's not all bad. I will remember this week and I'll think of him whenever I pull out my iPhone.

you're prolly right but I wont forget this week and its not because of the new iPhone. :-/

What an interesting thought process and philosophy on life and death you have.

One of your relative dies, but it's OK, cause you have this materialistic object in your life?

Dead Cousin - 0

You and your iPhone - 1

Bingo!

I was trying to say that for a week that I was looking forward to as iPhone 4 day, I have a lot of other things on my mind. and if you think that I would pick a material possession over my cousin, please think again.

I suggest you re-read his OP. How you got ^^^^ is beyond me.

Sounded that way to me. Like the death of the cousin is an inconvenience to the iPhone enjoyment "...I have been really torn now because a part of me just doesn't wanna be happy this week anymore." This sounds to me like the OP is actually happy with the iPhone but feels as though it is necessary to formally put on a show of being unhappy for at least a week.

There is nothing wrong with that. I barely know most of my cousins and likely would not be affected by the deaths of most of them except those few I grew up around. I could not even name more than a quarter of my cousins.

I think the OP had an awkward post, but the way I read it is that he's very sad his cousin died. It appears that the iPhone was just something that happened to be a thing he was thinking about.

I would venture to say the iPhone is just a piece of gear to him, as it would be to me, and that cousins are far more important than a cell phone. You could always replace an iPhone, but you can't replace a life.

So sorry to hear about your cousin, Nightcasino.

Maybe I'm not particularly close to my extended family, but I don't think I'd bat an eyelid if one of my cousins died.

Thanks a lot all. My family has always been close together. We grew up together and were the same age. This will pass I'm sure in time. Thanks again all.
