The UAG and the Apple silicone case are both great cases but in different ways. The UAG I picked up for $49 and of course the silicone case is a crazy $80. The silicone case is nice and slim and feels grippy and soft in the hand. The UAG also feels good in the hand but adds a little bit more bulk and weight. I really hate adding any extra weight to the iPad but the trade off for the extra weight and bulk are a great pencil holder and Surface Pro like kickstand. The UAG case will also let you use either the Smart Cover or Smart Keyboard case. Another thing I hate about any case for a phone or a tablet is if they make the buttons hard to press. The silicone case makes the volume and power buttons hard to press. I very surprised Apple designed the silicone with these stiff areas of the buttons. The smart case for the midsized iPads are soft in the button areas. The UAG case on the other hand has cutouts for the button areas which makes them easy to press. I hate watching a movie with the silicone case and having to use two hands to press the volume buttons or swipe up to use the control center. It sounds like I have made my mind up but it's still a hard decision. The silicone case is nice and slim for carrying but the extra features of the UAG case are nice to have.
