Hi.

My wife has been using iMovie (06) to make 3-5 minute videos for work, with our low end camcorder. Typically these are then burned to DVD using iDVD or converted to Flash for posting on their website.

The owner was so pleased with the quality work she was doing with such minimal equipment that he went out and bought her a Sony FX7. She wants to venture into HD videos.

We have a MDD 1.25ghz dual with 2gig of ram and adequate drives.

We also have a copy of FCE v2.

I think as my wife does more of these videos she will want something a little more powerful in an editor. iMovie does HD but of course FCEv2 does not.

I was thinking of updating FCE and I don't think v4 is a great buy, I mean I can get an update cheap enough but a lot of people are disappointed in that upgrade and suggest v.3.5 or even 3 is a better value.

I agree, it comes with more useful extras.

So, given our hardware, which version would be a better fit? We are just above the minimal requirements of a 1ghz G4 for v3.5. But we have dual. We are well above the mins for v3.

Anyone have any experience with how well 3.5 might run on a dual 1.25ghx G4? The RT rendering is what interests us.
