Hey, I need to transcribe some audio files and would like to be able to play these files at half speed so I can type as they play. Is there any way of doing this in iTunes or any good software that I could use?

I've already tried Express Scribe and Transkribe and neither of these work for me, Transkribe just flat out didn't work and Express Scribe just didn't really work for me, I couldn't pause, only stop and start back at the beginning, and the controls were very slow.

Any ideas? Thanks.

hello

I that you can do this on cubase, it will also correct the pitch for you. but this is a recording studio so it costs £200 and up. so thats a bit much for a little task.

if you are willing to pay in cubase you can stretch the audio file to the size you want. the bigger the slower it plays back. it actually makes a new audio file so you can pause, fastforward and so on.

Quicktime Player can do it. I'm not sure if it's only available in the pro version but just Command+K and a panel will open that allows you to playback at half speed while retaining pitch.

For high quality slow-down you can invest in Sound Studio or Amazing Slow Downer.

Great thanks a lot, I've got Quicktime Pro so will give it a shot now.
