I do some programming and when I open up code it automatically opens with Xcode. However, I wish to always open it with Smultron. When I change the default application on my .java files to Smultron, it just changes back to Xcode, even after checking "always open with"

Can anybody help me out?

Have you tried CMD-I on the file then select the application under "opens with" then click "change all". This should make all files of this type open with the application you need. If this doesn't work it sounds similar to a problem I had which I resolved by clearing the application cache (this was in Tiger so I used Onyx to do it - not sure how to do it in Leopard though I'm afraid as Onyx doesn't work under Leopard yet).
