I use to have the iCal app open all the time, in Lion, with no window open and the dock icon showed that the app was active with an indicator light on the dock.

The new Calendar app in Mountain Lion will show it is active when you are looking at a calendar window, but as soon as you close the window and click on the desktop the app indicator light goes out, and all options appear that it has quit.

This is strange because Force quit and system monitor show it is running.

When using the app not kept in dock, if you close the window the icon disappears, as if the app has quit.

Is this a new default behavior?

Just want to make sure this is not a bug. This is the second install of Mountain Lion, this one is a clean instal using system recovery, to clean up some files.

Just noticed this myself, then started googling around and found this post - if it is the new default behaviour, I'm quite pleased :)
