I recently switched from a yahoo email to gmail, and I prefer the gmail app to the standard mail app. I have held off adding the gmail account to the default mail app but am sick of the extra steps when I want to email something quickly via iOS.

If I set the mail app push settings to off and fetch to manual will that completely stop any syncing of the gmail account to the mail app but still allow gmail top my my iOS default? Thanks!

Yes, but why do you keep your gmail account in the normal app? Just remove it and only add it to your gmail app.
