default printer for copying?

hello i have a lexmark x1180 allinone printer and i have set it up as my default printer and it prints ok,when i try to copy a document it says it is not my default printer?
i have a minimac 80gb 10.5.6 with leopard
i did go to preferencies and set it as default but does anyone know how i set it as default when i want to use as a copy or scanner?
