This morning I went to reply to an iMessage on my Watch and noticed that the replies were in Japanese, and dictation did not recognize English, but Japanese.

This only happens for this person in particular, who is an iPhone user if that makes any difference.

Apple was no help.
 
Did you use Japanese to iMessage this person on your iPhone ?

Edit: Holy ****, I feel like such an idiot. I don't now why I didn't check iMessage on my phone.
It was on Japanese keyboard even though I wasn't texting in Japanese. English keyboard on every other message thread. Weird.

I'm also surprised that Apple didn't about asking me this.

Ha! Glad I could help.

I do find that it's easy to flip keyboard languages by mistake. Easy to tap the language key when trying to tap the number key or the dictation key.
