Default resolution or scaled

What are people choosing for the laptops? Are we taking a performance hit, on apple silicon, if not using default.

I switch between default and "more space" at various times on my M3 Pro 14" 12 core / 18GB / 1TB. Haven't noticed much difference in terms of performance.

Gaming and other resource intensive tasks can take a ~5-20% performance hit along with maybe a bit less battery runtime.

The performance joy is more theoretical than practical and that was also the case for most Intel Macs.

For my laptop I run default. More space on my desktop (only 4K for now)
