iPod touch Default space difference?

I've always wondered the space difference between ipod touches on ios 5 and 4 when bought new.

I know the available space with ios 5 is 6.4 mb with 6.1 free when first seen on a brand new ipod with ios 5 preinstalled

Is it the same amount of space with a brand new ipod with ios 4.x.x? The available space and free space?

This is because the OS is getting larger.

iOS 3 let you have 7.2 GB of space, iOS 4 and above let you only have 6.4 GB of space.
