Argh, I'm completely embarrassed about this, but how do you change your default web browser in Panther? I could do it in Jaguar, but I've been searching the preferences for 15 minutes now, and I can't seem to find it.:(

Open up Safari, go to Preferences, go to the General tab, and change Default Web Browser.

It used to be in Sys Prefs but it looks like they wanted to confuse us in Panther

I don't know that it's in System Prefs at all. In any case, there's an easier way. Launch Safari and select Safari -> Preferences. In the General tab you will find a setting for Default Web Browser.
