Hey all,
I've just gotten an AW7 and I was testing the functionality of the watch without the AOD.

One thing I noticed is that when it is woken up it doesn't go to full brightness immediately, instead it goes to low brightness then jumps up to full brightness. Is my watch defective? Anyone else having this issue? I am on watchOS 8.1.

Here's a video of it happening. It's much more noticeable in person.

Normal. Screen comes on, light sensor checks ambient light, screen then adapts. I don't think it will do that on your wrist when the display is set to always-on.

My S4 jumps to the right brightness immediately whereas my S7 does not.

You are correct in that there are no problems when it's set to always-on, but if this is a hardware defect with this particular watch I'd rather exchange it for another one
