Deinterlaced movie: VERY big files?

I just experimented a bit with a short clip (1min) from my Canon HF200. Imported this in FCE, added a small title and one transition. Total duration is about 1minute, when I export the file in same resolution to Quicktime MOV, I get a filesize of about 140mb.

When I add a deinterlace filter to the same clip, the filesize grows to a staggering 700mb for 1 minute (!!??). Is this normal?

I'd take a look at your export settings, make sure you are exporting as dv and not a larger format
