Just ran into another issue I have never seen. The active window moves with the mouse pointer. No matter what I do, click, double click right-click, it just sticks. I switch workspaces using my keyboard shortcut, and over there just the same: the window under the mouse is stuck. The only way I could free my windows was a restart (maybe a logout would have done, too).

I had that one for a couple years. I had to unplug and re-plug my wired mouse to get back to normal. This problem followed me from an iMac to a Mini and then to an m2 Mini, through several macOS cycles, and then abruptly the problem went away.
Sorry to be of no help.

That's interesting. I actually switched off my magic mouse and continued on my trackpad, but that did not make any difference.
