Delay in internet connection when waking iMac up from sleep

Lately, when I wake up my iMac from sleep and try to go on the internet, it will say it cannot connect. Then I try a couple seconds later and everything is fine.

What the reason for this delay if anybody knows and is there any way to solve this problem. This happens to me with wifi and when I have the computer plugged into the router with ethernet.

Its probably just your iMac getting an IP address again. Its normal for this to happen.

This sounds pretty normal. You can't expect a computer to keep a persistent connection when it's practically off.
