Hi all,

Years ago I locked a file as I didn't want it to be deleted accidentally.

When I now try and delete the file (as I no longer need it) I get the message:
'The operation can’t be completed because the item “...” is locked.'

When I tap 'get info' on the item, the tick-box to unlock it is greyed out (first image), even after putting in my user password when unlocking from the bottom right of the get info window (second image).

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
James

[doublepost=1540980747][/doublepost]Just to add,

I have tried "chflags -R nouchg " in terminal, which worked on another file that was locked. However, it doesn't work on this file.

1. Boot from an external drive that is bootable to the finder
2. Click on the icon for the internal drive ONE TIME to select it
3. Type command-i (eye) to bring up get info for the internal drive
4. Down at the bottom, click the lock and enter your password
5. In sharing and permissions, put a check into "ignore ownership on this volume". Close get info.
6. NOW try to delete the file in question.
