I'm trying to figure out how to delete the 4GB of files Apple Intelligence is taking up. I don't have it turned on and I'm not interested in using it. This is wasted space for me. Has anyone figured out how to delete it yet?

Maybe it’s the transparency logs under privacy and security?

Yeah—I would like Apple to implement a way of deleting downloaded AI resources, too. I’ve even filed feedback about it for both iOS and macOS, and I’d suggest those looking for a solution do the same. :)

In Sequoia: "Settings > General > Storage > macOS" shows system resources related to Apple Intelligence if they're downloaded. (For me, this was reported as about 5GB.)

After turning off the toggle at "Settings > Apple Intelligence & Siri > Apple Intelligence", then waiting a short period, those 5GB were no longer reported, and the Finder seemed to show that disk space was available again.

(No idea whether you're talking about a Mac or another device, but I hope that helps those who just want to try Apple Intelligence without permanently using lots of disk space.)

Oh cool. It’s on Mac and that’s exactly the kind of thing I was looking for. I’ll try it

It’d be nice to be able to manually clear this out on iOS after disabling Apple Intelligence…

I’m talking about a Mac! I tried what you said but MacOS still reports that Intelligence is taking up that space

I wonder what the issue is

Same problem here on M4 Mini Sequoia 15.2.

Apple Intelligence is taking up almost 5GB of data despite being disabled. I followed some instructions on how to remove it and was successful, but it automatically downloaded again immediately when I boot up next.

Who knows how much bigger they intend to make it but it's not something you want to see when you only have the 256 GB drive.

I got a m4 Mini about a month ago and use it primarily as a media server for my Apple TV's, running 24/7 with media sharing enabled. I also stream audio from Sirius/XM with Safari and have installed just one small app plus BackBlaze. I have all my media on a 4tb external SSD, so not at all concerned about disk space on the 256gb internal drive. After setup, I noted that only about 19gb was being used on the internal SSD. Apple Intelligence and Siri have been turned off from the beginning.

Now, a month later, about 27gb is being used on the internal SSD. This seems reasonable to me, aside from the system data, guessing the rest is probably cached web content, maybe some Time Machine files. I don't see anything about Apple Intelligence here... am I looking in the wrong place?

Anyway, not sure what any of this means. But possibly useful as a baseline for a m4 Mini that gets very little interactive use. For me, this shows that very little of the internal SSD is used by Apple's software, with almost 90% of the 256gb SSD available to user.

[edit] FWIW, Disk Utility also shows about 5gb of "purgeable" data on the SSD

Click on the little "i" in the circle next to macOS 19.97 GB in that first image. Mine shows 20.02 GB on that line but when you click the "i" it shows 4.85 GB for Apple Intelligence.

I just got my base M4 Mini the other day and with a completely fresh boot it showed ~215 GB free, then dropped to ~211 GB free when the dust settled but before I did a single thing or install anything.

Already tried that; it only shows the macOS version. I have Siri turned off, maybe that's the difference? Or maybe it's because I'm still on 15.1.1 and not 15.2? Regardless, not an issue for me, my internal drive will always be almost empty on this machine. I can see where it could be an issue if space is tight on the internal disk though.

I have Siri off as well. I think it's because you're on 15.1 --- I booted the new machine but it was only after updating to 15.2 that Apple Intelligence started downloading all that data.

It's as well it's not an issue for you but there's many who won't find the extra 5GB needlessly missing helpful on our 256 GB drives
